The Big Reveal
Well, it's the big reveal day for the guest participants of the One Room Challenge, sponsored by @betterhomesandgardens. We are in the final week of the One Room Challenge Fall 2021! I'm so excited about the way it turned out and I definitely could not have done it without the help of my son, Dominic. He was my paint contractor and the furniture refinisher. For a job well done, I will cook him a seafood dinner fit for a King.
It is always a wonderful feeling to create something from an idea in your head and watch it come to life. This is one of the reasons I became a designer. We are not completely finished, but we are 98% there. The reason is that the ceiling light and the backplates for the buffet are on backorder and should be arriving sometime before Christmas. Keep your fingers crossed. I will write another post when everything arrives. So, before we get to the reveal, let's stroll back to what my entryway looked like 8 weeks ago.
The entry was not inviting and very dull. My thoughts were to bring some life into this boring little space. In order for this room to be transformed, I needed to paint the walls, refinish my grandmother's buffet, add lighting, art, and some type of floor covering to hide most of the floor. Changing out the tile was not in the budget. I wanted something bright, bold, and colorful, so when guests walked in they would be in awe!

I created 2 looks, one with lamps and one without and I love them both!
As you know, my goal was to create something bold, bright, and beautiful, I did just that! My grandmother's buffet turned out to be BEAUTIFUL! The bold paint color I used was Sassy Green by Behr, it is the perfect backdrop for the bright, golden bee knobs I purchased from Amazon. For a little pizzazz, I used some left-over peel and stick wallpaper I purchased from Amazon for a previous DIY project to line the sides of the drawers. There is so much vibrancy and whimsy on this buffet, I just love it!
A Few of My Favorite Things
If you know me, you know I loooooove accessories. My living room looks like a boutique accessory shop. LOL! With that being said, selecting accents and accessories was a breeze. I incorporated original and limited edition art that I owned for this project. The floor runner is the perfect accent for the buffet, the green buffet really pops out against it. As you can see this space is overflowing with bright and bold colors, along with my favorite color combo, black and white.
This project had its challenges, but that's the life of a designer, trying to figure out what works best for the space. I hope you like what I have created. Feel free to leave comments below.
